NEWBERG, Ore. -- George Fox University, the No. 2 seed in the Northwest Conference women's basketball playoffs, kept its season alive with a ??-?? first-round victory over third-seeded Puget Sound Thursday night in Newberg, Ore..

George Fox, now 21-5 on the season, travels to Portland Saturday night to play top-seeded Lewis & Clark for the NWC's automatic berth in the NCAA Division III national championship field.

Lewis & Clark, also 21-5 on the season, won tonight's other first-round game, capitalizing on its home-court advantage in beating Whitman College ??-??. 

Lewis & Clark and George Fox finished the NWC regular season as co-champions, but a tie-breaker formula awarded the top seed to Lewis & Clark.
