Sports Information Student Writing/Webpage Intern
****One Writing Intern will be hired for spring semester and total hours worked per week will be approximately 10 hours which will cover all sports listed below.****
Cross Country, Cycling, Triathlon, Track & Field
The selected intern will actively gather information and write webpage news releases about the men's and women's sports of cycling, triathlon, and track & field. Whitman Sports Information Director Dave Holden will provide guidance, editing and webpage instruction.
Cycling, Track & Field, Triathlon
Whitman supports men's and women's cycling, track & field, and triathlon as club sports, with competitions taking place primarily or entirely during the spring semester.
While maintaining contact with each sport club, the intern will gather information about events/competitions as they take place and write news release summaries for the Whitman athletics club sports webpage.
The intern will also assist with basic webpage maintenance for each club.
Because the Whitman club cycling teams have had good success at the regional and national levels in recent years, it is likely the intern will spend a greater amount of time on that particular club sport.
Walla Walla typically hosts one large cycling event each spring, which would require more coverage. The intern could also expect to devote more time and effort to the conference championships for Northwest collegiate cycling, as well as for Whitman's trip to the national championships. Again, writing and updating rosters for other varsity sports will also be used to round out 10 hours per week.
