Yearbook section editor

Section editors are responsible for the organization and layout of one section of the yearbook. With the support of the design and photo editors, each of the three section editors will take responsibility for one of the yearbook’s three sections. We are hiring for the following editorial positions:

Candid/Nightlife
Greek/Clibs (preferably someone involved in Greek Life)
Sports

Please let us know your interest level for each section on the application. While we can’t guarantee that if you are hired you will get your first choice, we would much prefer to have editors working on a section in which they have some interest!

 

Each section editor will have the following responsibilities:

 

Assisting with the creation of a page “ladder” (outline) for his or her designated section
Creating and maintaining a list of appropriate photo assignments
Writing captions and other copy-edits
Planning topical and visually-cohesive layouts for his or her section
Layout of each page in his or her section, using the yearbook’s style and template

 

The ideal candidate for this position will be creative, organized and reliable. Good communication skills and an enthusiastic work ethic are essential. Previous experience with a newspaper or yearbook is appreciated, but not necessary. Willingness to learn is the primary requirement.

 

This is intended to be a yearlong commitment, but arrangements can be made for individuals who plan to be off-campus for one semester. All yearbook staff members will be paid stipends for their efforts.
