POSITION PURPOSE 

Stagehands assist in physical preparation for and production of shows in Cordiner Hall by hanging lamps, stringing cable, operating curtains and other equipment, and performing some custodial tasks.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Assist in the assembly and disassembly of show productions
  2. Load and unload trucks
  3. Assemble production equipment on stage
  4. Assemble and place set pieces, choral shells, concert walls, risers, and musical equipment
  5. Operate spotlight during shows (for qualified personnel)
  6. Assist with video, sound, and light production before, during, and after shows
  7. Move furniture, road cases, and miscellaneous equipment
  8. Perform some custodial tasks on stage, backstage, and in dressing rooms

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ability to lift 50 pounds without distress
  2. Technical theater or performance background (preferred, but not necessary)
  3. Technically minded
  4. Ability to respond to written and spoken instructions
  5. Professional and courteous
  6. Punctual
  7. Attention to detail
  8. Ability to provide quality customer service
