Whit Women Bounce Back, Beat La Verne

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Bouncing back from a loss earlier in the day against nationally ranked Bowdoin, the Whitman College women's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over the University of La Verne Tuesday afternoon in Claremnt, Calif.

Whitman, improving to 9-5 on the season, concludes its Spring Break slate of matches on Thursday at Redlands.
La Verne, which was coming off a 6-3 victory over Puget Sound, slipped to 3-10 on the season.
After taking all three opening matches in doubles from La Verne, Whitman dominated the play in singles, losing just eights games.

Alyssa Roberg, who missed a number of matches this past week due to illness, got the win at No. 1 singles, beating Kelly Griffith 6-3, 6-0.
Elise Otto at No. 2, Hadley DeBree at No. 3 and Emily Rolston at No. 5 won their matches without losing a game. Kate Kunkel-Patterson dropped just one game in winning at No. 6.
Divneet Kaur completed the sweep in singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 4.
Otto and Roberg cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. Kaur and DeBree won 8-3 at No. 2 while Charlotte Scott and Dena Wessel posted an 8-4 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
Scott and Wessel also won a pair of pro-set exhibition matches in singles.
