May 3: Stop This Train! What the Northwest Needs to Know About Coal Exports
Where: Olin 130
When: Thursday, May 3, 7:00 PM
Details:
Join Campus Climate Challenge for a presentation about the current proposals for coal exporting facilities in Longview, Bellingham, and other Washington and Oregon ports and what that means for the Northwest. From the coal mines of Montana and Wyoming to the trains spewing coal dust through the Columbia River Gorge, coal exporting is bad news for our region -- not to mention its effects on global climate change. Come learn from Whitman professors and students about this crucial issue and about the upcoming direct action in Montana against coal.
With presentations from:
Professor Bob Carson, Environmental Studies and Geology
Professor Don Snow, Environmental Humanities
Maggie Massey '12, Sociology-Environmental Studies (and Montana resident)
Campus Climate Challenge members
