The Everglades, Florida Keys and Dry Tortugas

with Professor of Biology Paul Yancey
November 3-9, 2012

Join us as we travel to the southern tip of Florida, from Key Biscayne southward to Florida Bay, touring one of the most fascinating wetlands in the world. Together we will examine the amazing ecology of the Everglades, the Florida Keys and the Dry Tortugas. Also explore the historical and ecological significance of Fort Jefferson as a Civil War fort and nature preserve. Don’t miss this opportunity for an inside look at this unique region of the country!

$2495 per person, $500 single supplement.

Galapagos 2013

Whitman College alumni, parents and families are invited to join Professor of Geology, Pat Spencer for an amazing journey to the Galápagos with Lindblad Expeditions. Within hours of landing in the archipelago, you’ll be experiencing an abundance of wildlife that includes blue‐footed boobies, giant tortoises and colonies of marine iguanas. With a new island to explore daily over the course of our expedition, and the promise of genuine discovery every day – you’ll snorkel with curious sea lions, and enjoy a swim with penguins. Routing among the islands is always subject to Galápagos National Park approval — but our in depth knowledge of this geography guarantees days steeped in joy, wonder and engaging activities.

Colonial America and the Revolutionary War -- Boston, New York and Philadelphia

Boston, New York, and Philadelphia
May 20-31, 2013

Join Professor Schmitz on this in-depth study of colonial America, the events leading to the revolution, and the beginnings of the concept of American nationalism. Explore Boston’s Freedom Trail, Lexington and Concord, Fort Ticonderoga, historic Philadelphia and Valley Forge. Envision the battles of New York and Long Island, and walk among the ghosts of the men who launched the American experiment of democracy.

Cost based on minimum of 20 participants.
$4,800 per person, double occupancy.
