Women's Netter Courtney Lawless Named NWC Student-Athlete of the Week
WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Sophomore Courtney Lawless (Austin, TX) has been selected the Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week in tennis after her dominating performance this past weekend in the Missionaries three conference road wins.

In matches at Whitworth, Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran, the crafty Lawless won all of her singles matches at No. 1 in straight sets, surrendering no more than two games in a set, only, once. Her scores were 6-0, 6-1 vs. Whitworth, 6-1, 6-1 at Puget Sound, and 6-2, 6-1 vs. PLU.
At No. 1 doubles, she played with a variety of partners in winning all three matches 8-6, 8-3, and 8-4. The six wins came in less than 36 hours during a road trip that started in Spokane and finished in Tacoma. The three team victories improved the Missionaries conference mark to 6 - 0 and gave them a firm hold on 1st place. Whitman hits the road again this weekend when they play George Fox Saturday at 10 am and Pacific at 4 pm in two more critical NWC matches.
Lawless is the second Whitman women's player to be named athlete of the week. Alyssa Roberg (Sr., Scotts Valley, CA) was selected in early February.
