National Coaches Name Eisenhardt to All-American 3rd Team

March 21, 2013

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- More accolades continue to adorn Missionary basketball player Ben Eisenhardt (Bainbridge Island, WA) as today he became the first  Whitman junior to be selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-America Third Team.

Ben Eisenhardt, Jr.

The team is selected by a vote of member coaches of the NABC. Earlier this week, Eisenhardt was named to the NABC's All-West District First Team -- the only player from the Northwest Conference to make the squad, as was case with his selection to the All-America team.

Eisenhardt is the first NWC non-senior to be named to a Division III All-American team and only the fourth player from the conference since the NWC made the move to the NCAA in the late '90s.

Today's prestigious honor follows several postseason honors for the 6-10 forward who transferred to Whitman after a year of collegiate ball at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Since the completion of the regular season, Eisenhardt has been named the Northwest Conference Player of the Year and selected to the D3 Hoops.com All-Region First Team in addition to his recognition from the NABC.

"As stated on his prior honors", said head coach Eric Bridgeland," Ben's accolades pale in comparison to his value to his program, teammates and Whitman. Well deserved and earned."

Eisenhardt ranked fourth in conference scoring (16.4 ppg.) and field-goal percentage (54.9 %) along with grabbing 6 rebounds per game -- 7th in the NWC. During the 2012-13 campaign Eisenhardt twice scored 29 points -- career highs -- and tallied 25 in a key conference home win against Lewis & Clark late in the season, as he led the Whits back from a 19-point second half deficit, scoring 21 in the second stanza.
