Men Golfers Finish Fourth at PLU Invite

DUPONT, Wash. -- The Missionaries began the spring season with a 4th place finish at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational this weekend, posting a two-round team total of 656. The Lutes walked away with 1st place, posting a score of 600.

Andrew Welch (Jr., Phoenix, AZ) was the top finisher for Whitman, carding a 78 and 80 (158) to finish 15th. Rounds of 82 and 79 (161) placed Scott Martin (So., Escondido, CA) in a tie for 21st. Geoff Burks (Jr., Edmonds, WA) totaled a 167 (tied for 30th). Rounding out the scoring for the Missionaries were Daniel Hoffman (Fr., Los Altos, CA) with a 170 (33rd) and Connor Hood (Fr., Bellevue, WA) with a 175 (35th).

Dustin Hegge of PLU earned medalist honors, firing a second round 69 to post a 146 total, one shot ahead of Whitworth's Austin Billiter.

In the team scoring, after the Lutes 1st place, the Pirates A and B teams finished 2nd and 3rd respectively while Lewis & Clark placed 5th behind Whitman.
