Description:

Of all the offices on campus, the Payroll office must operate accurately and on schedule. The Colleague Payroll module contains a variety of features to support payroll operations and to insure that payroll activities take place in a timely and consistent manner.

Purpose:

The Payroll class provides users with the knowledge to make effective long-term policy decisions regarding the use of this module and the information to train other users in the effective use of the Payroll module. In addition, a portion of this class will be devoted to issues of particular interest to the Colleague Administrator, including file structures, data flow, parameter set-up, module relationships, security provisions, and forms design. Specifically, the class provides:

• An overview of the entire Colleague system and the relationship other modules have to the Payroll module
• A thorough presentation of the capabilities of the Payroll module, including payroll processing (pay period and daytime tracking), adjustments, check modeling and check reconciliation
• Hands-on experience with the module

Audience:

• Payroll Officers with decision making responsibility
• Computer center staff responsible for Payroll office support
• Personnel officers are highly recommended

Prerequisites:

• Completion of the Envision Terms and Concepts computer-based tutorial (if you use the character-based interface) or familiarity with the Guide to Colleague Interfaces (if you use one of the graphical user interfaces)
• Completion of Personnel class
• Completion of Human Resources computer-based tutorial
• Review of the Implementation Approach Document
