Colleague Database

Description: The Colleague Database class provides the data, shard code file, and Core information necessary to make the appropriate decisions for establishing the foundation of the Colleague database.

Purpose: The Colleague Database class provides system and database administrators with an introduction to how Colleague stores data within its file structure and introduces participants to some of the primary setup issues and codes in Colleague. Additionally, the importance of codes and data ownershp is discussed. Class objectives are achieved through lecture, discussions and hands-on exercises. Specifically, the class provides:

• An overview of the objectives of the Data Standars/Shared Codes Team including the elements and enforcement of rules for data standards
• An overview of data flow and file structure for each application
• Instruction on building the shared codes in Colleague
• A presentation of the Core application setup screens
• A brief overview of the conversion process from legacy systems

Audience:

• System/Database administrators responsible for managing Colleague
• Programmers Involved in the conversion process
• Implementation Team Leaders

Prerequisite:

• Completion of Envision Terms and Concepts computer-based tutorial
• Review of the Implementation Approach Document
• Fundamental of Data Retrieval/UniData Administrator training
• Completion of the Project Management class by one attendee from the site
• Completion of the Colleague Administrator class by one attendee from the site
• Colleague Core Concepts training is preferred
