Kristen Hutchinson Bio: Kristen Hutchinson is Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History & Visual Culture Studies. She received her B.A. with a double major in History and Political Science and minor in Women’s Studies from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec (1992), her B.F.A. in Visual Arts from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Vancouver, B.C. (2000), her M.A. in Art History from the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario (2002) and her Ph.D. in History of Art from University College London, London, U.K.(2007). Her PhD dissertation was titled “The Body Part in Contemporary Sculpture: A Thematic Consideration of Fragmentation during the 1990s”. She teaches courses in contemporary art and General Studies. Her research interests include sculpture, installation, video and photography in Canada, the U.K., the U.S. and France from 1980 until the present. She is currently conducting research on Canadian artist Janet Cardiff’s audio walks in relation to phenomenological considerations of the body. |
