The new lady's maid in the Carr home proves to be a thief, and gets her partner, Jack Doogan, there, to steal the wedding presents. They disappear rapidly or are found in strange places. Mr. Carr is accused by his wife of being a kleptomaniac again, for he had been one in the past. Doogan enters the home disguised as a detective and friend. Finally the real thieves are discovered, but are forgiven on their promise to go straight. The play ends with the marriage of Doogan and Nell, Joan Carr and the Doctor, and Madge Carr and Mr. Cluney. Although the synopsis sounds rather serious, as if it had a moral attached, the play is really remarkably funny, with many comical situations. | ||
