Climbing classes and outdoor opportunities

Over the summer, the Climbing Center will be open Monday through Thursday from 6.30 p.m. to 9 p.m., offering both kids' classes and a "basics" class for newbies. There will also be outdoor climbing trips open to all ages. Contact the Outdoor Program at x5965 for more information.

Kids Climbing Summer Sessions

Kids' climbs include admission, rentals and facilitation. Having fun while climbing is the primary aim of these sessions. No refunds for missed days.

Basic Clinics
Learn the knots, commands and belay techniques to be able to rock climb and belay others (suitable for ages 14 to adult). Does not include entrance fees. The cost is $10 per person for clinic only, with two remaining dates to choose from:

July 8, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
August 5, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Outside Climbing Day Trips

Open to all ages, climbing day trips are taking part at Spring Mountain, Ore. several times this summer. The trips are for parties of between 4 and twelve. Sign up at the Whitman Climbing Center. Payment needed at time of registration. Includes: transportation, guides and all personal and group climbing equipment. Food not included. Trips return in early evening.

$40 per person for Whitman students, staff, faculty and their family members
$60 per person for community members.

Save the Date: Whitman night at the Walla Walla Sweets


This summer's Whitman Night at the Sweets game takes place on Aug. 7 at 7.05 p.m. The Sweets play the Victoria HarbourCats in the last home game of the season!

Complimentary tickets will become available one week prior to the game, with a limit of two per Whitman employee. Stay tuned for more details on how to get tickets.
