Assistant Professor of Art Nicole Pietrantoni has received a Larry Sommers Fellowship for artistic excellence. The award will support new artistic projects which she will pursue at Anderson Ranch artist residency in Snowmass Village, Colo., during her sabbatical in spring 2015. This new fellowship supports artistic excellence in the areas of print arts, book arts and works on or of paper. The award provides a stipend of $2,000 to produce new work or to support a project in progress. The selected artist is determined by the artistic excellence of the work presented in the application by a panel of arts professionals connected with the fellowship committee of Seattle Print Arts.
Associate Professor of Art Michelle Acuff has a solo exhibition now up at The White Box at the University of Oregon in Portland. The exhibition, titled the immiscible edges (pictured on the right), will be on display until Sept. 13.
Senior Adjunct Assistant Professor of Art Charly Bloomquist will have two pieces included in Tieton Arts & Humanities' 5th Annual 10x10x10xTieton International Juried Art Exhibition. 10x10x10xTieton is a juried annual exhibition featuring works no larger than 10 inches in any dimension from around the world, in an array of media, and takes place in Tieton, Wash. It runs until Oct. 11. Bloomquist's piece Dark Disc B is pictured on the right.
Development office welcomes new Stewardship Coordinator
Jennifer Schumacher Winchell has joined the Development Office as Whitman's new Stewardship Coordinator. Jennifer spent six years exploring Whitman as the spouse of an adjunct faculty member before becoming the Stewardship Coordinator for the Development Office this past week. Jennifer brings a combination of fundraising and writing experience to the job, along with a passion for education. She and her family thoroughly enjoy the many opportunities for learning that come with life in Walla Walla, whether it's growing their knowledge of the geography of the area or gaining insight into the history of the town.
Volunteer at the inaugural Parade of Classes at Reunion Weekend
Reunion weekend is rapidly approaching - September 17 to 21 - and there could be up to 1,000 alumni and guests on campus! The Alumni Office is seeking volunteers for the inaugural Parade of Classes on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 20. Class photos will be taken on the steps on both sides of Memorial, then classes will move directly to line up for the parade from Ankeny to Cordiner Hall.
"The Wa-Hi Marching Band has been recruited to lead the parade, golf carts have been reserved for the Fifty Plus reunion classes - what we could really use is some help wrangling people," says Jennifer Northam, assistant director of alumni relations. She is recruiting volunteers to assist in directing classes to the parade staging area around the perimeter of Ankeny Field. Attendance at a short meeting the week before the reunion would be required, and parade duty would begin at 9 a.m. on Sept. 20 until all classes enter Cordiner Hall for Reunion Convocation at 11 a.m.

The information used in the Directory is pulled from Datatel. We ask that you check to verify the current information listed in Datatel is correct by carrying out the following steps:

- Type in your last name. Sign in to view your complete listing. (Please note: you will also see a View Earnings Statement link. Only you can see your own earnings statement.)
- Reply to Mary Luckstead by Sept. 3 ONLY if you have changes and/or corrections to make at firstname.lastname@example.org or x5172.
We understand that there may still be changes to your information, including job titles and/or office locations. If you know a change is coming, even if you don't have all the details yet, let us know. The campus directory will be available online for final proofing before it goes to press.
This show highlights a group of artists whose work engages with the shifting notions of rural spaces. The exhibit runs through Oct. 8.
