Knife Defenses:

  1. Straight in attack.  Right-leg outside inside crescent kick, right single jumping side kick. Kihap.

  2. Straight in attack.  Left leg cheats to the left, right leg inside outside crescent kick, right single jumping front kick to kidney. Kihap.

  3. Straight in attack.  Right leg front kick to wrist, knocking hand up.  Right front stance, three punches to body and/or head.  Kihap.

  4. Overhead attack.  Right leg steps forward into front stance, left high block and simultaneous right arc-hand to throat.  Kihap.

  5. Overhead attack.  Dodging forward and slightly to the left, left high block in left front stance.  Right hand grabs knife-holding wrist, turns wrist counter clockwise to get the blade away.  Left palm to elbow (or forearm to shoulder), right leg slides back in a circular motion, bringing opponent face-down to the floor.  Kihap.

  6. Overhead attack.  Step forward into a right front stance, right high block. Grab knife-holding wrist with right hand, bring down in a clockwise circular motion (while sliding right leg back to avoid stabbing yourself in the thigh), right side kick to side of knee or hook kick to back of knee, bringing opponent to the ground.  Right stomp to armpit.   Kihap.

  7. Straight in attack.  Dodge forward to the left, grabbing knife-holding hand with left hand.   Right knifehand to wrist, knocking knife out of opponent's hand. Holding opponent's wrist with right hand, right round kick to stomach and head.  Kihap.

  8. Knife in back, hands up.  Drop right hand down by pivoting at the elbow; at the same time step to the right with the left foot, so that you're nearly facing your opponent's right shoulder.  Bring knife-holding hand up with your right wrist, grab opponent's wrist with both hands and pull down to the ground over the shoulder.  Finish with right spearhand to the throat.  Kihap.

  9. Overhand attack.  Step left foot into a left front stance, high x-block with right hand on outside (backwards from everything else we do).  Right foot steps forward, looking over left shoulder, rotate hands so you grab the opponent's wrist, spin around while continuing opponent's downward motion -- right into the abdomen.  Kihap.
