Jason Hartley
Zachary Carroll received his early training from George Zoritch at the University of Arizona, and later became a scholarship student at The National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada. As a dancer, he has performed as a soloist and principal for Oregon Ballet Theatre, Minnesota Dance Theatre, and Ballet West, as well as being a guest performer for many other ballet companies. He enjoyed a wide variety of dance styles, and was cast in works by Balanchine, Petipa, Anthony Tudor, Hans Van Manen, Lila York, John Butler, Val Caniparoli, Frederick Ashton, Paul Taylor, and many others. After moving to Portland, OR in 2000, he performed and toured for more than a decade with BodyVox, and directed their second company, BodyVox-2. He was also a performer with the Skinner/Kirk Dance Ensemble and Portland Opera.
Zachary has been on staff at Columbia Dance Center, The Portland Ballet, and BodyVox for over 17 years, as well as being a guest teacher at various schools across the state of Oregon. He became a certified dance instructor for Portland Public Schools, and launched the Just Dance collaboration between Wilson High School and The Portland Ballet, bringing dance into the public school curriculum. In addition to teaching locally, he has been a guest artist at many schools across the country.
