Whitman College, Walla Walla University and Walla Walla Community College are collaborating to create a series of community events to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, an international celebration of innovation and creativity.

Monday, November 4th -- Lunch Workshop with Leslie Helm
12pm - 1pm, Reid 240

Mr. Helm, the editor of "Seattle Business Magazine" and former Toyko correspondant for "The Los Angeles Times", will be on campus for this special lecture. As part of his day he will be having a Q & A session with students interested in journalism. Lunch will be provided.

Thursday, November 7th -- Real Talk with Kirsten Adams Gable '01 and Erich Wolf '02
4pm to 5pm, Reid 219

Both of these notable alumni have extensive experience in consulting, from policy analysis to strategic planning for multi-million dollar projects. They will be available to answer questions and discuss their path from Whitman into the professional world. To read more, visit the Real Talk page.

Learn about an exciting new program designed to help you develop the skills, confidence and connections to launch a meaningful career right out of Whitman. Monday, November 18th -- Adopt-A-Family Launch

The SEC partners with Blue Mountain Heart to Heart and The Health Center to share
the holiday spirit with families living below the poverty level. Any group of students
or community members can adopt families ranging in size. Learn more >


Tuesday, November 19th -- From Student to Start-up: Whitman Entrepreneurs
Lunch 12pm - 1pm, RSVP by Nov. 12th for lunch

As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Whitman College will host a noon panel with three recent graduates who have started successful organizations. These alumni will share their adventures and offer their reflections on what it means to be entrepreneurial. Read more >

Tuesday, November 19th -- Entrepreneurship Week Evening Reception
6:30pm in Reid Ballroom
Free and open to the public

A community reception to celebrate Global Enrepreneurship Week. Events will include:

  • Awards presentation and viewing of top entries for the two entrepreneurship competitions
  • Networking with local community leaders, business people, and entrepreneurs
  • Hors d'oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages

Wednesday, November 20th -- Whitman Service Community Social
5:30pm - 7:30pm, First Congregational Church

Come join us in celebrating our service and get to know the other people on campus who commit to "making service your thing". We will be serving dinner, socializing and reflecting on our experiences thus far.

Wednesday, November 20th -- Real Talk with Megan Clubb '79

Megan Clubb is currently President and CEO of Baker Boyer Bank in Walla Walla, and sits on the Board of Trustees for Whitman College. Come learn more about her dynamic journey from Whitman to the business world in this session of Real Talk with Alumni.

Find A Summer Intership Over Winter Break

Stay tuned for an upcoming workshop  workshop will focus on strategies to use your time over Winter Break to find a great summer internship. This year the SEC will be significantly expanding the summer internship program - come find out at this workshop and future info sessions or stay tuned for updates online.


Use of career resources nationally and at Whitman on the rise

Recent analysis shows that use of career resources (SEC-hosted events and appointments) at Whitman is on the rise, matching a national trend. Results showed that members of the class of 2012 used SEC resources significantly more than their peers in the graduating class of 2011.
