Make a Difference Day
Thank you to the 138 Volunteers and the 14 Community Partner Organizations Who Participated in Make-A-Difference Day on Saturday, October 19th, 2013!
Volunteers served on projects ranging from stream restoration to chalking facts for a domestic violence campaign, and everything in between!
Here are some reflections from volunteers who participated in this morning of service:
"The best part of my morning was...being able to be part of something bigger than myself and being able to meet more people in the local community."
"I felt that the elderly woman whose house we improved really benefited from the time we spent there. I felt the care we showed for her is the care I'd appreciate receiving when I'm her age."
"Domestic violence and sexual violence is an issue that is close to home for me, and I feel so humbled and empowered to spread the message in my Walla Walla community."
"The best part of my morning was... seeing everyone's smiling faces as they served... so great!"
We invite you to participate in 2014's event!
We will accept applications from local organizations to host projects next fall. For more information, contact email@example.com
Make-A-Difference Day is a National Day of service. Join thousands of volunteers around the country to "make a difference" in your community. This year Whitman College and the Walla Walla community have come together to support service projects that address identified community needs in the following areas: Basic Needs, Health and Wellness, Education, Arts and Culture, Neighborhoods and Communities, and the Environment.
We encourage groups and individuals to sign up to serve on a project. For more information on how to sign up, please contact Abby Juhasz, the Community Service Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
