Whitman Mentor Program

The Whitman Mentor Program pairs Whitman students with at-risk elementary aged children from the Walla Walla Public Schools. On a weekly basis, Mentors head to the schools and become a consistent face in the lives of Mentees. While in the schools, Mentors simply be listeners for their Mentees' stories or even be the tallest four square player around. In the end, Mentors are expected to provide friendship to their Mentees and act as positive role models (instead of act as saviors or social workers).

For the 2012-2013 year, the Mentor Program worked in five elementary schools and two middle schools. Nearly 140 Whitman students become Mentors for the year.
