Mosquito
women in science

Welcome to the homepage of Women in Science, a group of students (male and female) who are dedicated to academic success and the advancement of women in the sciences. Our club was created in the spring of 1995 by a few enterprising physics majors who thought that a resource on campus for female scientists would be a pretty nice idea. While we are still in the process of defining our goals, we have already spent time mentoring middle school students in the sciences and introducing Whitman and the Walla Walla community to the physics of dance. Our current interest is to bring science demonstrations to local elementrary and middle schools.

If you are interested in Women in Science and would like to learn more, you may be interested in joining our listserv. All you need to do is e-mail Megan Leich and she'll set you up right away. We typically post upcoming meetings and events on the listserv, and in the future we hope to include these announcements on these web pages.

In the meantime, clicking on the mosquito will take you to our summer-research page, a far-from-complete listing of the internships held by present and past members of WIS.

If you have time, check out this new web site for up-and-coming scientists that Kelly Ray (our past President) sent!

The current officers are:
Co-Presidents: Erin Breckel (99) and Jessica Palmer (98)
ASWC Representative/Treasurer/Budget Contact: Holly Staffan (98)
