HOW TO INSTALL THE WORD TEMPLATES NOTE 1: Use these files in Word 97, 2000, or 2003 ONLY!!! THERE IS A BUG IN WORD XP (2002) that will cause documents to crash if you do any modest copying and pasting in the document. NOTE 2: Installing normal.dot is going to override all of your current setup (icons, macros, etc.). You can skip this and instead just use file, new, and click debate.dot which will open the debate.dot template. NEW FEATURES IN THE 2006 VERSION *COPY AND PASTE WITHOUT FORMATTING (Control + G): Want to Paste Text from a web page without all the formatting? In the Debate Template, just press Ctrl and G at the same time to paste in text without formatting. (This was actually a 2005 addition). *MAKE A LONG CARD SHORTER (Control + 8): Turns the highlighted text that is not underlined into 8 point font. *EMPHASIS WORDS (F10): Makes highlighted text use a bigger font for emphasis when reading. *NEW TABLE OF CONTENTS (1 column is Control + F11; 2 column is Control + F12): They now work; They are better formatted. NOTE--formatting Block Titles and Hats needs to be accurate to make the TOC work correctly. *PRESS CONTROL+R TO GET THE OLD TABLE OF CONTENTS (ROSS STYLE) *NEW BACK AND FORTH ARROW BUTTONS: When using a table of contents--after clicking a link to a page--just click the arrow back button to return to the table of contents. *REMOVE RETURNS no longer requires answering no to several prompts. It just does it. *HATS now add a line before making them more noticeable in the Doc Map. *THE DOC MAP NOW SHOWS MORE ITEMS because the font is smaller. *PRESS ENTER AFTER A BLOCK TITLE and it returns to normal text. *YOU WON'T NOTICE IT--But the normal.dot and debate.dot have been separated and streamlined. This means less problems sharing documents and it also means you really don't need the team's normal.dot to use debate.dot fully. *F12 NOW HIGHLIGHTS AND UNHIGHLIGHTS STEP 1: COPY THE NORMAL.DOT AND DEBATE.DOT FILES STEP 2: 0pen Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer).
