Rhetoric Facilities in Hunter Conservatory

The Hunter Conservatory is the home of the nationally acclaimed Whitman Speech and Debate Program. The Program has been the national champion in parliamentary debate as a school for three years in a row (2010, 2011, 2012), had a team in the national championship debate of CEDA Nationals, and regularly wins over 25 individual events awards each year.

The Speech and Debate Program is housed in the Third Floor of the Hunter Conservatory. Here is the floor plan:

Hunter 107 is home to many of our debate meetings.

Three Prep Rooms, each with 6 computers with dual monitors provide outstanding research and work opportunities. We also have a video practice and storage room.

Jim Hanson, Professor of Forensics, has an office on this 3rd “Debate” Floor. With a comfortable couch and podium, it is a great spot for practice debates.

Our new Trophy Cases proudly show off just a few of the many awards won by our National Champion Speech and Debate Program. They also house well over a thousand rhetoric and argument journals.
