Finding your
room |
Keep a map in your bag/pockets at all times.
Feel free to ask our staff or a tournament guide for directions.
There is a tournament guide at Cordiner near the posting or in the Extemp Prep
Room in the west basement, a guide in Sherwood small gym, and a guide in Olin.
|
I’m at the
building but can’t find my room |
Check the signs with arrows on the wall directing you to
your room.
Ask a college student, staff, or faculty member. Ask one of
our guides—they are located in the first floor of Olin, near the Sherwood small
gym, and periodically in Cordiner Foyer.
|
Noone is at my
room |
Double-check to make sure it is the right room.
If it is the right room and noone is there 15 minutes after
the start of the round, head back to Reid center and tell the ballot table.
|
One of the
competitors hasn’t shown |
If the tournament is running late/ballots are going out
late, give a little slack for the student’s arrival.
Individual Events (Speeches): Start the round with another
competitor. If the missing competitor does not show up within 15 minutes of
when your ballot is due—RETURN TO REID CENTER.
PARLI OR LD DEBATE: If its 15 minutes past when the round
should have started, consider the round over and just hang out until the second
flight (or if it is the second flight—return back to Reid).
PUBLIC FORUM AND POLICY DEBATE: If it is 15 minutes past
when the 1ac should have spoken, consider the round over. Return to
|
The room is
locked |
Tell one of our guides located near Olin 180, in the
basement of Sherwood small gym, in the Cordiner building area, or come to Reid
Ballroom and tell the ballot table.
Can we just hold our round in another room nearby?
You can do this ONLY if you will not in any way interfere
with others and you clearly post a sign right next to the original room where
you have gone to so other competitors know where to go.
BE SURE TO TELL THE REID BALLOT TABLE PEOPLE about any locked rooms as soon as possible so we can get the rooms unlocked.
|
Make sure you
are in the correct room |
Confirm that the speakers/debaters in your room are the ones you are supposed to judge.
DO NOT tell students to speak or debate who are not on your list. The only exception is if the Tournament Director says differently (and in some cases, a student will tell you that the tournament director said to add him/herself to the round—if so, do so).
