DEADLINE
IS WEDNESDAY, THE WEEK BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT STARTS.
1. You need to write Extemp
topics.
2. These topics must be E-MAILED in to JIM by
MIDNIGHT, WEDNESDAY, the week before the tournament for his review.
3. After Jim reviews the topics, revise them for any
comments he offers and email them to him by MONDAY 9PM, THE WEEK OF THE TOURNAMENT.
Write out 4 sets of topics (Round
1, Round 2, Round 3, Finals Round). Each set should contain __7____ speakers with
3 topics each.
Make sure the topics are:
RECENT--WITHIN THE PAST 2 MONTHS
ROUND 1: DOMESTIC QUESTIONS ONLY
ROUND 2: INTERNATIONAL QUESTIONS ONLY
ROUND 3 AND FINALS: EACH SPEAKER HAS AT LEAST ONE DOMESTIC AND ONE
INTERNATIONAL TOPIC
EACH SPEAKER HAS AT LEAST
TWO “EASY” TOPICS
FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT, YOU
MUST HAVE AT LEAST TWO TOPICS FOR EACH SPEAKER GENERATED FROM GOOGLE NEWS AND
CNN.COM ONLY (that have appeared during the past 2 months).
1. You need to write Impromptu topics.
2.
These topics must be E-MAILED in to JIM by MIDNIGHT, WEDNESDAY, the

Note: PLEASE MAKE SURE THE TOPICS
COVER A WIDE VARIETY OF VIEWS (CONSERVATIVE, LIBERAL, LEFTIST, ETC.), AND,
WHERE APPROPRIATE, INCLUDE A VARIETY OF SOCIETAL GROUPS, GENDERS, ETC.
