THE 2009 TOURNAMENT
November 5-7, 2009 We will start Registration at
3pm. First round at 4pm.

Coach,
We invite you to the 37th
Annual High School Speech Tournament at Whitman College, nestled in the
Walla Walla valley and buttressed by the Blue
Mountains. The tournament will begin Thursday
early evening October 30th, for LD and Policy Debate. On Friday
morning, November 6, IE’s begin. On Saturday morning, November 7, Parli, Public Forum, and Student Congress begin. All events
finish Saturday, November 7 in the evening. The tournament features
outstanding competition. Last year, 48 schools attended the tournament. We are
excited to host you at this year’s tournament!

LONG ROUND SCHEDULE making the tournament on-time and
more relaxed.

TOC Bids in Finals for LD and Policy.
·
NEW SCHEDULE
THIS YEAR. We start 1 hour earlier on Thursday and end much earlier on
Saturday.
·
NEW: Parli team debate (students who do not advance in Policy or
LD can compete in it as well). Student Congress Super Session. All IEs in one pattern and no conflicts with debate.
·
JUDGING QUALITY. We have a training page specifically
for new judges. We have judging philosophies for debate.
·
ENTRY LIMITS. We
restrict entries to avoid overcrowding at our school and at local hotels.
--MAX. 10 Policy Debate
teams and/or LD Debaters (e.g. 10 LDers; or 7
Policy debate teams and 3 LDers; or 10 Policy debate
teams).
--MAX. 10 Public Forum and
Parli Debate Teams. (e.g. 10 Parli teams; or 7 Pub Forum debate teams and 3 Parli teams; or 10 Pub Forum debate teams).
--MAX. 30 IE Slots
including Student Congress entries.
