A. The College added two new faculty
members while two professors retired.
1. From the English
Department, Phillip J. Acker retired as Professor of English.
2. From the Political Science
Department, William L. Hamilton retired as Professor of Politics.
3. Andrew Hudson was added to
the English Department as Assistant Lecturer in English
4. Susan Miller and Allan
Donald were added to the Political Science Department as Assistant Professors
of Politics.
B. Alicia May was the Student Body

C. Robert A. Skotheim
was the President of the College,
D. Students protest over a lack
of coed dorms around the campus.
E. Three students are expelled
as they are caught cheating during the finals.
Speech Courses
The department's course descriptions
reflect a focus on diction and articulation and the debate course offers
argumentation training.
Speech Department Description: Courses
treat public speaking as a liberal art, proposing that such speaking is not a
skill learned by rule but an exercise of judgment that can be no better than
the speaker's understanding of the nature of the communicative acts.
