YOU DO TRAINING FOR REGISTRATION. JIM AND ANDREW WILL TEST YOUR REGISTRATION SKILLS

GET
YOUR MATERIALS AND LOCATION FOR REGISTERING FROM THE TOURNAMENT ASSISTANT
·
Greet
them—SAY “Hi, Welcome to the Whitman tournament!” BE SURE TO START OFF ON THIS
GOOD FOOT.
·
Ask
them what school they are from.
·
Get
their receipt and tell them how much money they owe.
·
While
they get their money, get their packet
·
CHECKS
ARE WRITTEN TO
·
Collect
their money; if there are discrepancies—try to address them or tell them to see
the tournament assistant or Jim.
·
Give
them receipts for payments; we do NOT give receipts for po’s, “pay later” etc.
·
Very
carefully and accurately fill in the “Payment Sheet”
NOTE: DO NOT COUNT PO’S AS PAYMENT ON THE FORM—THEY STILL OWE US! Use the

Give
them their tournament packets
·
If
they have any adds/drops—tell them to go to the add-drop line and report there
with that information.
·
Answer
any questions that they have

Note: All fees are set at 8 p.m.
Wednesday, the week of the tournament.
Any drops after that time do not lower the amount a school owes. Adds
after that point, if permitted, do increase fees.
· Greet
coaches and say “Hi. Please fill out this sheet to indicate adds/drops/changes
and then give it to me.”
· Give
the coach the add/drop/change form. They fill it out.
· HEY—IF
THERE’S ANOTHER COACH THERE, GIVE THE FORM TO HIM/HER TOO! Don’t make people
wait.
· Have
one person read and check these to make sure that they are clear and accurate.
· Have
the other person at a computer with instant messenger who sends them to the tab
rooms.
· PLEASE
NO LONG LINES—KEEP THINGS MOVING!
For the registration people, divide the schools into 6ish
groups of equal numbers of schools based on their letter in the alphabet. For
example, one group of schools might be those with names beginning with A-C.
PLEASE NO MORE THAN 6 SCHOOLS IN ONE GROUPING!!!
Set up one of the sheets in the “Payment Sheet” document
linked below for each of the 6ish registration lines.
NO LINE SHOULD HAVE
MORE THAN 6 SCHOOLS.
Set up one of these sheets for each school.
Get the Packets
Get the Payment Sheets
Get the Receipt Sheets
Get Lists of Judges from the IE, Policy, LD, and
Parli Tabs
Get the “Whitman Judging Information Sheets” ASK

Print 20 copies of the add/drop/change forms: 102adddrop.doc

Get
the Packets from the Packet Preparers. Bring those and the completed payment
and receipt sheets with you to the Reid Ballroom.

P.M., set up the tables for registration in OLIN FOYER

2 P.M., tape signs using blue tape directing people to the registration tables

MAKE 6ish LINES; ONE FOR SCHOOLS WITH NAMES MATCHING
EACH OF THE PAYMENT SHEETS YOU SETUP FOR THE 6ish LINES; YOU MUST HAVE 6ish
LINES or things just get too backed up.
5.
MAKE SURE REGISTRATION SIGNS ARE POSTED stating what
letters/schools should go to which line.
6.
Setup one line for adds drops; have someone ready to
run these add-drops to the tab room as soon as possible especially for ie’s.
MAKE SURE A SIGN IS POSTED FOR THIS.
Assign people to the different
lines. Tell them who is doing what.
THE BALLOT TABLE WORKERS THAT
JIM HIRED HELP WITH REGISTRATION
Give each person an example form
for the line they are in charge of.
EACH LINE SHOULD BE SETUP FOR NO MORE THAN 6 SCHOOLS!!! JIM HATES HATES HATES LONG LINES!!!!
Explain the basics of what each
line does (school registration; student certification; judge sign-in)
Test EACH and EVERY person out
to make sure they do their job properly. Pretend you are a coach (school reg);
student (student certification); and a judge (judge sign-in).
