HIRED PERSON

Shop about 2 hours on Friday so you are ready by 5pm to begin setting up in Olin

Saturday 8am to 10am; 11:30am to 1:30pm; 4:45 to 6:45pm (whatever times I told you in the email)

Sunday 8am to 10am; 11:30am to 1:30pm

 

 

Before you begin, a few important points to remember:

1.    You have a very important job.  People have paid money for their food and they expect it and they expect it on time.

2.    Picking up food and setting it up takes much, much longer than you think.  For example, to go to the store and setup the food for breakfast--you need 45 minutes minimum.  So--follow the times listed below and schedule enough time.

3.    Please wash your hands and wear gloves when coming into direct contact with food.

4.    EVERY 15 MINUTES—GO AROUND OLIN FOYER, 130, 157, 161, AND HELP THROW AWAY TRASH, ETC.

 

 

WEDNESDAY—PRE-TOURNAMENT SHOPPING

THROUGHOUT THIS, BRING ALL RECEIPTS TO JIM, RIGHT AWAY

 

·       ______ Get money from Jim for small purchases. Most of the time, you will just tell the cashier at Albertsons to charge items to the Whitman debate account; sign for it; and bring the receipt to Jim right away.

·       ______ Buy 1 can opener (for the coffee)

·       ______ Buy 3 “stainless steel” real knives for spreading butter/jam

·       ______ Buy 2 sharp knives

·       ______ Purchase 100 bags of tea

·       ______ Purchase 100 cups of cocoa

·       ______ Purchase 1 can of coffee

·       ______ Purchase cream (powdered) for coffee

·       ______ Purchase one box of sugar cubes for coffee

·       ______ Purchase a box of sweet and low for those who don’t use sugar.

·       ______ Purchase swizzle sticks for stirring coffee

·       ______ GET THE PLATES, BOWLS, CUPS, NAPKINS, SPOONS, FORKS, KNIVES (JIM WILL HAVE ORDERED THESE OR ASK JIM)

·       ______ Get the water bottles

·       ______ Purchase four vinyl tarps/sturdy plastic sheets to protect the floor from dripping coolers

·       ______ 50 bags of chips, pretzels, cheetos

·       ______ 50 bags of small snickers, reeses, musketeers, paydays, baby ruths, starbursts, licorice, etc.

YOU CAN LEAVE THESE ITEMS IN THE STORAGE ROOM, HUNTER 305 OR TAKE THEM TO OLIN 155 IF IT IS FRIDAY.

 

HIRED PERSON AND DEBATERS, FRIDAY, by 5 p.m. DO THIS

·       Get the coffee and hot water pots going ASAP!  Hot coffee and water must be ready by 2:00 p.m. for road weary coaches!  NOTE--IT TAKES 1 FULL HOUR FOR THE COFFEE TO GET HOT.

·       Get the Coffee Pots from Donna in the Olin Main Office ON FRIDAY.

·       Put out the fruit plate, vegetable plate, cheese-meat plate, crackers, fruits.

·       Set up the food, tea bags, cocoa, cups, cheese/crackers, veggies, some pop, and napkins in Olin Foyer.

·       PUT OUT THE BAGS OF CHIPS, PRETZELS, CHEETOS

·       BRING THE WED. PURCHASES YOU LEFT IN HUNTER 305 TO REID BALLROOM AND PLACE inside Reid ballroom NEAR THE BACKDOOR where the food is located

·       Report any problems with the pop or coffee machines to Jim as soon as possible.

 

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY: BREAKFAST

BY 7:15AM, BE AT ALBERTSONS ON ISAACS, EAST SIDE OF TOWN

It takes a long time to get this stuff. Be at Olin by 8:15am.

·       ______ Pick up the doughnuts—IT WILL BE 3ISH DOZEN FRI, 12ISH DOZEN SAT, 10ISH DOZEN SUN

·       ______ 3 dozen cheap bagels FRIDAY; 6 dozen cheap bagels SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

·       ______ 2 large bins of cream cheese FRIDAY; 3 large bins of cream cheese and 1 large bin of flavored cream cheese SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

·       ______ 1 gallons of milk FRIDAY, 2 gallons of milk SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

·       ______ one ½ gallons of soy milk FRIDAY; 2 ½ gallons of soy milk SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

·       ______ 24 cups of yogurt

·       ______ 10 gallons of orange juice, fruit punch, lemonade

·       ______ 18 cups of chocolate pudding

·       ______ 12 cups of no sugar jello

·       ______ 12 string cheeses

·       ______ 4 cereals (2 sugar type cereals—eg froot loops, cap’n crunch, 1 raisin nut flakes type quasi-healthy, 1 you pick)

·       ______ 18ish cereal bars (strawberry, etc.)

·       ______ 18ish pop tarts

·       ______ 8ish eggo waffles

·       ______ toaster (see Jim if you think we already have purchased one)

·       ______ 1 bottle of syrup

·       ______ 30 BRAEBURN APPLES, 30 ORANGES, 40 BANANAS EACH DAY (unless we have a lot left over)

 

Repeat this order AT THE SAME TIME on Saturday and Sunday BUT ORDER LESS IF YOU HAVE LEFTOVERS.

 

·       WHEN YOU BUY THE FOOD, TELL THEM TO BILL IT TO WHITMAN DEBATE; ALSO PRINT YOUR NAME ON THE RECEIPT--DON’T JUST CURSIVELY WRITE IT!

 

Bring these items (doughnuts, bagels, fruit, etc.) you purchased to Olin Foyer by 8:45am.

 

WHITMAN DEBATERS: AT 8:15AM, Get the coffee and hot water pots going ASAP!

Put drinks in a separate location
Open all packages so people can quickly get the items they want
Make sure four lines can run through the tables of food!

·       _____ GET 4 TUBS OF HUMMUS

·       ______ 12 cups of chocolate pudding

·       ______ 6 cups of no sugar jello

·       ______ Get bags of ice if we are doing our own soda (ask Jim)

·       _____ GET 1 large tub of potato salad and 1 large tub of macaroni salad

·       _____ GET 24 LOAVES OF BREAD SATURDAY

·       _____ GET 16 LOAVES OF FRESH FRENCH BREAD OR EQUIVALENT—NO CRUSTY OR DRY BREAD!

·       _____ GET 2 large tubs of potato salad and 2 large tubs of macaroni salad

·       _____ GET 8 TUBS OF HUMMUS

·       ______ 24 cups of chocolate pudding

·       ______ 12 cups of no sugar jello

·       ______ Get bags of ice if we are doing our own soda (ask Jim)

ALSO—AT NOON ON SATURDAY, GO BACK TO SAFEWAY AND GET THE SOUPS.

 

GET THIS LUNCH FOOD SETUP WITH THE WHITMAN TEAM FOOD HELPERS.

 

On Saturday IF YOU HAVE LEFTOVERS—reduce the order.

 

Store the desert items; make sure that they will defrost in time by 8pm.

 

KEEP THE AREA CLEAN AND make sure food is easily accessed.

 

BEGIN SHUTTING THE FOOD DOWN ABOUT HALF AN HOUR AFTER THE ROUND STARTS AFTER LUNCH.

 

THROW AWAY STUFF THAT SHOULD NOT BE SITTING OUT such as meat, cheese, lettuce, mayo, etc. OR TAKE FOR YOURSELF.

 

For food items that won’t go bad, leave them at the end of the tables for other people or in the trash bin outside of Olin.

 

SATURDAY NIGHT DESSERT

HIRED PERSON, SATURDAY DESSERT—DO THIS RIGHT AFTER DINNER; SETUP BY 8:15PM

Purchase the following:

6 cakes

6 pies

5 cheesecakes

100 cookies

10 sliced plastic containers of banana/carrot cake (near the doughnuts) and raspberry/strawberry filled pastries (there are about 30 of them inside)

10 pie servers

6 gallons of ice cream

6 ice cream scoopers

 

 

SUNDAY LUNCH

Pick up the Fried Chicken, Salads, Side Dishes, Rolls, French Bread AND 8 HUMUSES at Safeway.

 

THROUGHOUT THIS, BRING ALL RECEIPTS TO JIM, RIGHT AWAY
