What
lab/schedule will I be put into? POLICY You fill out a
form asking you about your partner and lab preferences and you’ll tell us
about your experience, success, and answer a few questions about debate
theory. We’ll use that form to put you into an affirmative and a disadvantage
lab and schedule with people who have similar experience and background.
Later, you’ll get to preference your counterplan, kritik and choice research
labs. LD and Public Forum When you begin
your work, our lab leaders will work with you to place you into a lab based
on your experience and interests where you will get the instruction you need
so that you excel! Concretely, what does that mean? It
means that if you are: Very experienced
Debaters: You will experience
advanced lectures addressing the latest theories and intricate strategies.
You will engage in in-depth discussions about topic strategies with your lab
leader; the small lab size means you can ask the questions you want and get
the answers you need. You will work with other students who are equally
experienced. Fairly
experienced Debaters: You
are going to get the attention and knowledge you need. You are going to learn
advanced debate theory. You are going to be able to put that theory into
practice during our drill sessions. You can ask the questions you have and
get the answers you want from our staff because you are in a small lab
working one-on-one with our staff. Less experienced
Debaters: If you don’t have much
experience or none at all, you are going to learn the key skills and theories
of debating working with our staff one-on-one through an innovative program
that has been nationally acclaimed. You will be placed into a lab where you
will get the individual attention you need to begin your debating success. AND REMEMBER—OUR CAMP IS
DIFFERENT. You learn what
you want because you are in SMALL groups and you can work with your lab
leader one-on-one to ask questions, work on skills, prepare arguments, and
achieve your goals! At other camps, you might get stuck in large lectures
where they are only covering material you have heard before. At WNDI, you
will be challenged each and every day at our camp because the curriculum is
YOU—lab leaders working on what YOU want and need to learn. |
