  • SMALL LABS
WNDI is famous for individual attention and you will get it. You and the 5 other students will work with an outstanding staff member. You will get your questions answered; you will get the drills you need to improve.
  • TONS OF EVIDENCE
At WNDI, you do not have to worry about bad evidence cut by untrained high school debaters. Our college staff prepare over 1500 pages of arguments providing the basis for sound cases on each and every NFL LD topic that you will debate during the 2008-2009 year. Click here for a list of the evidence from last year’s WNDI.
  • ADVANCED PHILOSOPHY LECTURES
We will offer an advanced series of lectures focused on strategic and in-depth understanding of traditional philosophy such as Locke, Rawls, and Mills. You will also experience in-depth lectures on Foucault, Derrida, Butler, and other contemporary philosophers. These lectures won’t be abstract lessons in arcane concepts—they will be directed at providing thought provoking reflection that will challenge your debating and intellectual mindset.
  • DEBATES AND DRILLS WITH REDOS
You will engage in the most challenging debates you have had because you will debate other outstanding high school debaters AND you will debate our staff—college debaters and coaches with a deep understanding of the persuasive and philosophical aspects of Lincoln Douglas debate. You will do drills. We are going to work your debating until you do it right—that includes persuasiveness, rebuttal crystallization, and taking control. Our staff will give feedback on your strategies, your delivery, all of the key elements needed to win.
  • THREE WEEKS OF INTENSIVE STUDY
We go from 9:45am to 10:30pm each day. You will engage in debates on the LD topics that you will debate during the 2008-2009 year. Our staff includes LD state and national champions, people who have excelled in the Northwest and on the national circuit in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. These debaters have continued their success in college advancing to late elimination rounds at the NPDA and NPTE national championship tournaments. Whitman has a reputation as one of the hardest working squads in the nation and we are going to show you why we are the team that won the LD Championship at the national Point Loma tournament two years in a row. You will be coached in the same way that we coach our program. If you are up to the challenge, then we invite you to apply.
  • NEW FOR 2008! MORE TIME FOR STRATEGY AND REFINEMENT
We now give more time on each topic and as a result, debaters at our camp get hours more to practice with their cases, to adjust and strategize the cases for maximum effectiveness, and to better reflect on what went well and what to improve on when debating during the actual year.
