Thursday, April 29, 2010.

4:15 to 8:15pm

You will be scheduled for a 20 minute time during which you will give your 6 to 10 minute presentation.

 

All students currently enrolled in courses at Whitman are eligible. Cash prizes totaling $800-1000 will be awarded. Participants receive a cash prize for presentations meeting the criteria of the contest (noted below). The amount of each award shall be determined by Jim Hanson at the time of the contest but shall not exceed $180 and shall not be lower than $40. You are paid through the financial aid office into your student account.

 

All speeches must be

1. the original work of the speaker

2. different from Dovell-Gose presentations you gave in previous years.

3. persuasive in nature

4. six to ten minutes in length

 

The speeches may concern any topic and you may use notes.

 

Tips for Doing Well

 

If you are interested in entering, please e-mail Jim Hanson at hansonjb@whitman.edu BY 9PM WEDNESDAY, APRIL 28, 2010, with your name and any time constraints on when you can present.

 

You will be notified on Thursday morning, April 29, with your 20 minute time slot.
