| eBooks The use of eBooks is limited to Whitman College students, faculty and staff only. NetLibrary offers an extensive collection of public domain eBooks, from Project Gutenburg as well as from other sources. These are designated the Public Collection. There is also a custom selection of books that Whitman College and other Orbis Cascade Alliance members have “acquired.” Books in the Private Collection are currently unavailable for either previewing or checking out. Options in using netLibrary include:
After performing a search, you can choose whether to preview or check out a book. You can preview a book for up to 15 minutes, after which it becomes “reshelved.” You may also check out a book for 12 hours, in which case you need to create an account. This account, which is free, will also make it possible for you to access and use netLibrary anywhere, on or off campus. You will be prompted to create an account when you first attempt to check out a book. A user name and password for an account can be created onsite at Whitman College. Whitman Home Page
