Penrose Library recently began subscribing to Elsevier's College Edition e-journal packages. As a result, we will now have access to three subject collections:
Beginning this fall, Penrose Library is participating in a pilot project to provide online reference services through email, chat and IM technologies. Members of the Whitman community will be able to chat with a librarian in a real time interaction 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Penrose Librarians will staff the service from 9am-10pm, Sunday-Thursday. Questions asked during other hours will be forwarded to librarians in a global reference cooperative. Get your answers through Ask Us!
We've just unveiled a new and easier-to-use online catalog. Search for books, journals, and course reserves, check your library account and renew books, and find out what new books the library has added to the collection. We hope our new interface will make it much easier to find resources for your classes and research. If you have any suggestions for making this an even better search tool, please don't hesitate to let us know!
ILLiad Interlibrary Loan software will be unavailable on May 11 from 6-9 am. Penrose Library will be upgrading to the most current version of ILLiad. Patrons will be unable to place and receive ILL requests during this time.
Whitman College is conducting the Research Practices Survey, which gathers data on your experiences and opinions concerning academic research. This survey takes only 10-15 minutes to complete.
First year and senior students received an link via email to access this survey. After completing it, you will receive a coupon for a free coffee or tea, redeemable in Café 41 (the one in the library).
If you experience any difficulty with this survey, or have any questions, please contact Neal Christopherson, Director of Institutional Research. Thank you for your help!
