Penrose Library-Whitman College

Proxy Server

What is the "proxy server"?

Whitman pays for services that are available over the Internet like databases, electronic journals and e-books. When you are on campus or using the Whitman network you are automatically logged on. If you are off campus or using a non-Whitman Internet Service Provider (such as Charter or Qwest) you can still be logged on to the network and use the Library's electronic services through the proxy server.

How to use the proxy server:

When any subscription database is accessed from the Penrose Library webpage you will automatically be sent to an authentication screen to log on to the Whitman network. Use your email username and password to log on and you will be able to access any of the Library's databases as if you were on campus.
