About the Peer Listeners Whitman Peer Listeners is a student run organization through the Whitman College Counseling Center. The first part of our mission is to improve mental health on campus by being a resource available for students to come to in times of need. We lend ourselves as resources to the student body by being trained in a variety of areas including listening skills, crisis management, and problem solving. We have an office located in the Counseling Center (502 Boyer Ave.) but do not currently hold Office Hours, however we do provide a list of active members in the Photogallery, any of which are always happy to listen. The second part of our mission is programming and awareness. The Peer Listeners sponsor programs throughout the academic year that promote mental well being and help relieve stress. With programming and stress relief we also like to raise awareness on campus that everyone has issues at some point or another in their lives and everyone could use a little help. By raising awareness to certain issues we hope that the campus becomes more tolerant as well as more sensitive to certain issues that may occur on the Whitman Campus more than one might think. If there are programs you would like to see or any questions you have, please contact us! We'd love to hear what kinds of programs could help relieve stress or raise awareness here at Whitman.
