Established in 1984 and moved to a new location in 2005, Tekisuijuku (Japanese House) has five bedrooms and comfortably houses an average of five residents and one Resident Assistant. In addition to the student speakers, a native speaker also resides in Tekisuijuku. This student is a resident of Japan and spends the full academic year working through the Japanese department to promote and assist students in the learning of the Japanese language.
This house focuses on Japanese oriented interests. For example, some traditional events include sushi night, yakisoba night, hanami, and setsubun, among others.
Tekisuijuku is affiliated with the Japanese department and is assigned an adviser from that department. At least once in the semester, the house adviser is invited over for dinner to discuss the programs that Tekisuijuku’s residents are planning for the semester.
Residents of Tekisuijuku are responsible for completing weekly chores, having active involvement within the house and the Interest House Community, and promoting house sponsored events and activities.
If you would like to arrange to eat dinner at the TEK, or have any questions about house activities, please contact the RA.
