Registration Appointment Times
Effective April 2014:
In response to the feedback we received on a student survey in January, the Registrar’s Office is altering the method we use for assigning pre-registration appointment times. While this change will not be drastic, it will better address the interest we received in trying a new process. Up until this point we randomly assigned appointment times by anticipated graduation date, weighting those in the first and last groups a bit so that a student was not given the first or last appointment time slots two consecutive pre-registrations.
Our new method will be to divide each graduating class group into two tiers and randomly assign appointment times within each tier. We will use the list of appointment times from the last pre-registration (November 2013) to divide the group in half for pre-registration in April and will move those students in the bottom time slots to the top tier. Students will then alternate between tiers each pre-registration.
The difference between the processes is that students will now continually move between tiers. There will be no weighting involved as students in the lower tier will be moved to the upper tier for the next pre-registration, thus guaranteeing they will not be disadvantaged twice in a row.
