IFSA-Butler Chilean Universities Program

IFSA Butler Chilean Universities Program in Valparaiso allows students to enroll directly in classes at two different Universities with local students.  In addition, it offers three program courses and an internship for credit. The program classes, taught in Spanish by local professors, are intended to provide students with an understanding of the events and issues that make Chile what it is today.

Fields of study:

History, geography, biology, psychology, education and Spanish studies

Eligibility:

Minimum of five semesters of college Spanish or the equivalent, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

Semesters Offered:

Fall, Spring Academic Year

Calendar:

July – December (semester 2); February – July (semester 1)

Credits:

16 credits per semester - Required Courses:
Advanced Spanish Language (4 credits)
Four electives at Center and/or the University (3 credits each)

Credit Conversion:

1 IFSA-Butler credit = 1 Whitman credit

Housing:

Students are placed with host families.  These homes are located in Viña del Mar, just 15 minutes from Valparaíso.

Meals:

Three meals per day are provided

Internships:

Available at non-profit organizations.
