Fields of study:

Music (Vocal Performance, Instrumental Performance, Music Theory and Composition, and Music History)

Eligibility:

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0; strong interest in music

Semesters Offered:

Fall, Spring

Calendar:

September – December, January – May

Credits:

Required Courses (15-19 credits)

  • Italian Language (6 credits)
  • Four 3-credit courses in music, private instruction in music, internship,
    IES Italy Today electives, and/or university courses.

Credit Conversion:

1 IES credit = 1 Whitman credit

Housing:

Apartments with other American students and sometimes with Italian roommates
Homestays with Italian families

Meals:

Apartment: Students typcially cook breakfast and dinner for themselves and eat lunch at university cafeterias or nearby restaurants.
Homestay: Breakfast and dinner are provided by the host family.  Students eat lunch at university cafeterias or nearby restaurants.

Internships:

Internships are available in non profits related to music (music schools and music studies)
