Record giving in 2011-12 affirms campaign and college priorities

The Fountain

The launch of the public phase of the Now Is the Time campaign last November served as a rallying call, and that call was answered in record numbers – the campaign total has reached $110 million!

John Bogley, vice president for development and college relations, reports that gifts made during the 2011-12 fiscal year surpassed $18.5 million. This giving total exceeds the previous all-time high in giving to the college, achieved a year ago, by almost 22 percent. New commitments to the campaign this past year, including multi-year pledges, have exceeded $21 million.

“The outpouring of support has been extraordinary,” Bogley says. “Already, gifts to the campaign are allowing us to add professorships, increase the number of paid internships for students, expand student-faculty research opportunities and endow our commitment to providing access for students regardless of their economic circumstances.”

Among the many noteworthy gifts this year were commitments to establish two new professorships, a record-setting Senior Class Fund that resulted in gifts exceeding $75,000 and a significant increase in giving by staff and faculty – both in the number of donors and dollars.

Bogley is particularly grateful to staff and faculty donors and believes that the entire campus community contributes to the success of the campaign through their good work.

“Staff and faculty can be proud that their efforts often inspire the gift of a lifetime from generous donors who see and invest in the good work going on here,” Bogley says. “We all should be proud of the work we do every day. When alumni, parents and friends of the college visit, it’s not uncommon for them to comment on the professionalism, friendliness and positive energy that they experience on campus.”

Campus Directory: back by popular demand; accuracy check emails coming

The college will once again create a printed Campus Directory that includes offices/departments and the full alphabetical listings of staff and faculty.

The information used in the directory is pulled from Datatel and needs to be verified. It is the same information that is used in People Search. Later this month all staff and faculty will receive an email from the Human Resources staff asking you to review your People Search listing and notify them of changes or corrections. You are asked to please attend to this request and the stated deadline – doing so will help ensure accuracy and enable the production and delivery of the directory in a timely manner. The target delivery date is the first week of October.

Watch The Fountain and campus emails for detailed information about ordering copies. The price is $1.50 per copy. You will be able to order through Boyer House and charge the costs to your office/department budget.
