Men’s and Women’s Tennis
Matt Solomon ’10 was named Northwest Conference Player of the Year for men’s tennis for the second time in three years. Jeffrey Tolman ’13 also made the All-NWC First Team, and Etienne Moshevich ’11 and Chris Bailey '11 were voted to the Second Team. On the women’s side, Elise Otto ’11 and Alyssa Roberg ’13 made the First Team. John Hein was named women's NWC Coach of the Year.
Cyclists National Road Champs Again!
The Whitman College cycling team wrapped up its second consecutive Division II national title in May at USA Cycling’s Collegiate Road National Championships in Wisconsin. The women won the team time trial (TTT) and the men placed third. Whitman finished with a total of 455 points, edging out Mesa State College, MIT and Dartmouth. Defending the TTT title it won a year ago, the Whitman quartet of Kendi Thomas ’10, Mia Huth ’10, Roxanne Pierson ’11 and Emily Rodriguez ’10 took first. The women’s program has won six of the last seven TTT national titles, dating back to 2004. The Whitman men’s team was Ben Chaddock ’10, Colin Gibson ’10 and Timbah Bell ’10.
Borleske Trophy
Soccer scoring sensation Corina Gabbert ’10 and tennis ace Matt Solomon ’10 are the 2010 winners of the Mignon Borleske and R.V. Borleske trophies. The annual awards go to the top male and female athletes on campus in recognition of athletic accomplishment, leadership, sportsmanship and overall campus contributions.
Baseball
