Soccer player earns Academic All-America honors
Corina Gabbert ’10 capped a superlative soccer career this fall with Academic All-America honors. After earning Academic All-District First-Team honors for 11 western states and British Columbia, the Missionary senior captain and history major was voted to ESPN The Magazine’s Academic All-American Second Team.
Gabbert, a forward-midfielder, terrorized opponents on the pitch this fall, bunching 19 goals and six assists into just 17 games. It was Whitman’s most prolific single-season scoring effort in more than two decades. She booted a hat trick (three goals in one game) against three different Northwest Conference opponents.
Gabbert, a four-year starter, finished her career with 45 goals and 12 assists, good for 102 points.
