Whit Men's Tennis Match Rained Out in Not-So-Sunny California
WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Heavy rains in not-so-sunny southern California on Saturday washed away a scheduled men's tennis match between Whitman and Whittier colleges.
Weather permitting, the two NCAA Division III teams plan to make up the match on Sunday.
Whitman already has a match against Connecticut's Trinity College slated for Sunday in nearby Pomona, but coach Jeff Northam now hopes to play both Whittier and Trinity on the Whittier courts.
Both Whitman and Trinity are in California on Spring Break trips.
Whitman, 13-3 on the season, is ranked No. 1 in the West Region and No. 8 nationally.
Whittier, 6-2 to start its season, is No. 7 in the West and No. 17 at the national level.
Trinity, which is just now starting its spring season, is No. 5 in the Northeast Region and No. 19 nationally.
