Weather Wreaks Havoc: Weekend Home Swim Meets Scrapped

January 20, 2012

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Hazardous road conditions caused by snow and rain throughout the Northwest has wreaked havoc with the Whitman College swimming schedule.

Whitman home meets planned for 6 p.m. tonight (Friday) against Pacific Lutheran and at 1 p.m. Saturday against Puget Sound have been scrapped.

Rescheduling decisions for the meets have yet to be made.

"We are of course disappointed, as we were really excited for the meets this weekend," Whitman coach Jenn Blomme says.

"These were to be the closest meets of our conference season and there has been a lot of anticipation on all sides for our face-off, but you can't control the weather.

"I'm glad all our teams are safe and sound, and hopefully we'll get the chance to see each other before the conference championships."

Whitman is also slated for a dual meet next Saturday in Spokane.
