Whitman MBB at San Antonio Tourney: Live Stats, Video on Tap

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Whitman College men's basketball team is in San Antonio, Texas, early this week with hopes of building on its promising 6-2 start to the season.

Whitman is one of several NCAA Division III teams, including six from the Northwest Conference, taking part in the Trinity University National Invitational Tournament, which runs Tuesday through Thursday.

Whitman opens at 3 p.m. (Pacific time) Tuesday against Iowa's Buena Vista University in Trinity's Webster Gym. Click here at game time to follow the live stats.

Buena Vista, picked by a preseason coaches poll to place second in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, is off to a 4-5 start. One of its early losses came by two points and a second setback was by four points in overtime. The Beavers are gunning for their eighth IIAC title in 16 years under coach Brian Van Haaften.

Whitman's opponent on Wednesday is Wheaton College (Illinois), which is 7-2 to start its season. The Thunder, picked in the preseason to finish third in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, have been ranked as high as No. 13 in the D3hoops.com national poll thus far season.

Wednesday's Whitman-Wheaton game starts at 1 p.m. (Pacific time) in Trinity's Sams Gym. Fans can follow the game by live stats and/or live video.
