Whitman To Open New Academic Year with Aug. 28 Convocation

WALLA WALLA, Wash.-- Whitman College marks the formal opening of its academic year with convocation ceremonies Saturday, Aug. 28, in Cordiner Hall.

The college expects an enrollment of approximately 1,350 full-time, on-campus students.

Convocation begins at 10:30 a.m. Whitman President Thomas E. Cronin will make brief opening remarks and professor of geology and environmental studies Bob Carson will present the convocation address, which will include a slide show.

Residence halls open Friday, Aug. 27, for new students and Saturday, Aug. 28, for returning students.

Registration is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Sherwood Center. Fall semester classes begin Wednesday, Sept. 1.
