Meet the new Office of Conferences, Events and Scheduling team

The Office of Conferences, Events and Scheduling was excited to welcome their new director, Katie DePonty, in late June. Katie may be a familiar face to many in the Whitman community, as she worked in the Office of Admission from 2006 to 2012. She has returned to Walla Walla after two years in Denver, Colo., and is looking forward to collaborating with the campus community on events large and small. In addition to overseeing the Office of Campus Events, Conferences and Scheduling, Katie will also take the lead on Convocation and Commencement preparations, summer programs and non-Whitman groups.

Debi Evans has been promoted to Scheduling Coordinator in the Office of Campus Events, Conferences and Scheduling. In addition to running the daily operations of the office and coordinating student workers, Debi is now the primary contact for all non-academic room reservations and managing the college calendar. Debi is the first contact for anyone interested in booking a location for an event on campus.

Natasha Blake begins her second year as Events Coordinator, focusing on events for the President's Office, including but not limited to: governing board meetings, the Whitman Undergraduate Conference and all events at Sherwood House.

Phillip Schmatt, Facilities Equipment Coordinator, manages much of the audio visual setups in Reid Campus Center, as well as the delivery of tables, chairs and other event equipment campus-wide. Phillip works closely with our student workers.

Harold "Pete" Holm, Cordiner Hall Stage Technician, continues to be an invaluable member of the team. In addition to being responsible for the daily operations of Cordiner, Harold provides support for all events in Cordiner Hall. He also works closely with the team supporting events in Reid Campus Center and other college events on- and off-campus.

To reserve a campus space (other than Memorial Hall, athletics spaces, the Music Building, Harper Joy or the GAC), go to our Reservation Form.

Once you have booked your location, the Conferences and Events staff is here to assist with the set-up of tables, chairs and technical equipment and is also happy to provide resources for the marketing of your events. The Conferences, Events and Scheduling office is designed to help everyone on campus plan their events, of any size. We look forward to working with you!
