Where Did Human Rights Come From?
Samuel Moyn is professor of history at Columbia University, where he has taught since 2001. This year, he is visiting professor of law at Harvard University. His most recent book is "The Last Utopia: Human Rights in History (2010)." Moyn works primarily on modern European intellectual history with special interests in France and Germany, political and legal thought, historical and critical theory, and Jewish studies, as well as on the history of human rights.
